Thanksgiving decorations around my home are simple. This is partly due to the fact all of them come down the day after Thanksgiving as I go hog wild over Christmas! This Holiday is about family, being thankful, and all the wonderful smells filling the house, as we share laughter and love! This year will be the first year I will not have all seven of my children under my roof, so it will be a little bitter sweet as we adjust to the changes life brings us. However, I can be thankful they are all happy and healthy.

If you have been around the blog for any length of time, you have seen my door turned shelf. Since we do not have a mantle, this is my go to item to decorate seasonally.

Just add a little twine and burlap to a few cobs of colorful dried heirloom corn! Then save in a dry place to plant next spring!

My favorite pitcher :) I never tire of it in any season!

I like to work around items that already in my home. I guess it is one part laziness, as I don't want to drag it all back out, and I honestly do not have the storage space!

These two Cinderella pumpkins will become homemade pie... and I'll save the seed to replant for next year!

I hope what you will take away from my postings is you do not have to have a lot of money to enjoy decorating your home!! Seriously... almost everything I am using can be bought at the grocery store, collected in nature, grown or found fairly inexpensively! You can also use some items for each Holiday by changing things up a bit! Don't let what you don't have keep you from enjoying the season!

The inner candle holder is something I made from an old green wine bottle, using a glass cutter and sand paper! I used the beans from my pantry  to hold it safely in place inside of a hurricane lantern I bought on clearance at Pier One Imports for under $4!

I collected the mini white pumpkins from my mother's farm, picked up the pine cones and the wreaths are just from a grape vine, I wound and then dried!

Life hasn't been easy for us the last few months. Many of you are aware that my cowboy was in a serious accident. We are adjusting to a lot of life changes as the result of the accident. Head injuries are not always clear cut, and heal in their own time. It is easy to get overwhelmed. As I placed these words on the shelf today, I smiled. Though things are not easy, I can find a way to give thanks despite the circumstances. I am thankful we have all the blessings we have and can give thanks... in all things.
