Week Four Home

Fun at the Fair! Dad with Lili!
Day 20 Home July 30th (Monday)
As if things were not mass chaos already, due to my daughter's asthma and allergies, we were forced to find a healthier home environment for her. The first Wyoming house we rented had new carpet and she had a MAJOR reaction to whatever it was leaching into the air! At one point her oxygen levels were so low I was super concerned we would have to have her hospitalized. Between that, the one bedroom which had some sort of awful smell, the bathroom not being vented properly and the heavy use of chemicals around the house to kill weeds, it just wasn't a good fit for our family. We searched high and low for a home to accommodate our needs. We were blessed to find a new home within our budget! It was moving day finally! After a few moments of panic, as the trucks and help which we had arranged had important things come up, my son wrangled some major help from his wrestling team! 4 trucks and a bunch of young men and we were set! Three loads later and everything was pretty much moved.

Seth was in a lot of pain, but he was a trooper, helping to direct the packing of the trucks! The bed was set up and he napped for a few hours.

Day 21 Home July 31st (Tuesday)
We woke up early and made a quick breakfast. We had just a few more items to collect from the old rental, and then a quick clean so we could be all finished. We spent the first half of the day scrubbing down the old rental. I know it was disheartening to lose us as renters so quickly after we moved in, so we wanted to make sure we had done absolutely everything we could to leave it ready for their next renters! Later that night, Seth and Lil' Bit made it to the Pig Wrestling at the Fair. I know he really did not feel up to going but he is such a good day... he took his little girl to the fairgrounds anyways!

Day 22 Home August 1st (Wednesday)
Though there was no change in his site, it was time to see the surgeon and have the stitches removed from his eye surgery. After a long drive to Jackson, the appointment took moments and we were headed back home! No improvement with the double vision when he looks up :( The damage may be permanent, but we just won't know for a long while. He also had not gotten the feeling back in his face and like his teeth it can take up to a year for the nerves to repair themselves. He may or may not get the feeling back on the right side of his face. We made it back home in time for Seth again to take Lil' Bit to the Fairgrounds for the Horse Pull. My oldest daughter and I did a lot of canning together and I was able to get a large portion of the packing done.

Day 23 Home August 2nd (Thursday)
Seth's swelling continued and it was a little frustrating. He has come so far and set back days make it hard. My trooper of a husband joined my children in the audience to watch me compete @ The Lincoln County Fair Karaoke Contest! After a number of hours, I won third place. It was like a breath of fresh air for my little family... everyone excited and happy.

Day 24 Home August 3rd (Friday)
My sweet daughter, Lili, and I spent the day canning while Seth rested. After sleeping all day Seth was interested in attending the rodeo. It was a mellow event which we enjoyed. Pretty boring day... which we will take! His pain level was up, but we have noticed when he is out and about this occurs.
Day 25 Home August 4th (Saturday)
Another day of canning. Seth's swelling in his hand increased as did his pain. He kept it elevated most of the day, which seemed to help. The memory issues and stuttering which has occurred really made him feel frustrated. It is a battle of staying positive and focused on healing. I think it will help when we can get up to Idaho Falls and see the neurologist so he under stands it better.

Another night at the rodeo and we got their early enough for the nice seats so his arms were better supported. He had his favorite fair treat: Kettle Korn! Yum!
Day 26 Home August 5th (Sunday)
The swelling in his left arm and hand increased to a worrisome level. Thankful Monday is the OT appointment day. When the pain swells, his pain is increased. Just a big day of rest for Seth.
