I had to go ahead and post a sneak peek of my kitchen re-do! LOL...maybe it comes from being out here on the farm by myself most days and I want to feel connected... Oh I know it sounds silly because many of you know I am moving in a few months, but I want to leave this place beautiful for the times we come back to visit and for my son who will be remaining behind here on the farm. It makes me feel good to leave something better than when I found it.
The above picture is just after I painted the cabinets red a few years back...you can still see my husband had redone the wiring and I was waiting for him to finish it! I am so thankful to have a handy man who can do electrical, plumbing, etc...but waiting sometimes is not my strong suit! I love how I only have a picture of my kitchen in it's natural state with all the dishes drying...no show room house here!
I sanded, painted and put a protective coat on the cabinets. I just love how clean and bright white looks. Now if I can just remind my boys to wash their hands before opening cabinets I would have it made! The counter tops were a bit of a chore. I sanded them down with my hand sander (yes cowboy of mine I wore the proper mask)I then sponge painted in layers to create a faux finish. I have pics of this and will post a blog on how I did it step by step in the near future. I then added 6 coats of clear cloat sanding between each coat to protect the counters. So far ... so good...with 5 kids in the house right now... it is holding up!
My house is so lived in...I long for uncluttered counters but just not willing to pull the stuff I use in and out every day! Ill post this again when I add more pics! Hope you liked it! :)
