Two summers ago my husband took me to an auction. I had always refrained from going to these as I detest standing around for hours watching old farmers and ranchers bid on boring (yawn) farm equipment. Little did I know the items one COULD find at an auction. While those silly ranchers had their eyes on gates and equipment...I had mine on little goodies found hidden in out buildings and boxes. I purchased a pile of mirrors. At first glance I wrote this mirror off as being some plastic or non wanted item but it was sold with the lot. However when I got home I discovered I had bought a real gem. 5 mirrors for $5 and this one was wood... Carved wood!

Before :) YES...it is really carved wood!

The Amazing After
I painted a 2 coats of homemade antique linen chalk paint.  I then waxed it with Annie Sloan Clear Wax and then applied Annie Sloan Dark wax in the crevices. I then white washed LIGHTLY over the dark wax to lighten it a little. Applied another coat of clear wax and then added the distressing. Viola...a mirror Im soooo in Love with!

You're such a groovy girl, I can't believe it took you that long to get hip to auctions! There's a website 'GlobalAuctions.com' that pretty much covers North America! Usually has pictures so you can see at least some of the stuff!
